What you tried to say to me

50/50

I recently watched the movie “Constantine” and throughout the film was the message (Catholic point of view) that suicide would send you straight to Hell. I’ve heard many opinions regarding the consequence of taking your own life and so far the tally is 50-50. Fifty percent believe you will end up in Hell and fifty percent believe if you are “saved” you will go to heaven.

Anyone know of a specific Bible verse that explains God’s view?

Marierose, I haven't found a specific bible verse, but these should make God's view clear:-)

Mark 3:28-29
The Unpardonable Sin

28 “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

I pray you are doing well.

God's Grace.

The only thing that I've ever heard about it is that when you are "saved" you become God's property and don't have to right to "murder" yourself. Plus it goes against the ten commandments. But thats only what I've been taught over the years. I'm still up in the air about it though.

From what I know it is the same as murder. If you kill yourself then you have no time to repent for it because you are dead, therefore you go to hell.
But, what do I know?

Fundamentalist Christianity says: Anyone who questions gods infinite love suffers eternal damnation.

FYI : Did you know that the bible was edited by constantine after the council of nicea. That is where they or the eliete voted on christ's divinity. Yes it was a vote. And to get back to the bible editing. Constantine axed 60 gospels. That is like half of the book!

The bible is so contridictary. People could interpret your question with a 50% pro 50% Con to suicide using probable well over 400 scriptures. Don't pay it too much mind. Unless of coures your debating on wether or not to kill yourself. My best advise would be not to. In the space of eternaty a single lifespan if very very short.

I know of no verse that describes god ut anything. The Bible was written by people expressing their own views about what they thought gods views were. Then it was edited by people who changed a lot of stuff for political reasons.

Even if the Bible was the word of god, none of the various sects of Christianity can agree how to interpret it. Everybody thinks their opinion is fact. sad ... truly sad.

Ah... Pascals Wager. You have two sides of a coin. Either you will go to hell, or you won't. If you don't believe you will go to hell, and you flip that you will, you've lost everything. But if you believe you will go to hell, and flip and end up wrong, you lose nothing...
